My name is Kali Concepcion and I am so very excited to be returning to CollegeFashionista for a second semester! I’ve practiced and grown in interviewing and bending my knee just the right way to capture the perfect angle, so I’m really happy to be finally getting into a groove. Needless to say, I’ve had a fun and opportunistic journey with CollegeFashionista, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this semester.
Lately I’ve definitely had a rough time pulling myself away from putting together cropped trousers, a casual shirt and flats. I usually accessorize very minimally, typically with just a couple pieces of gold jewelry and my staple Ray-Ban sunglasses. I hardly ever stray from going for a classic, minimal look in most of my outfits, and I don’t often sacrifice comfort. Nonetheless, I still appreciate the more daring addition of a bold print, statement sunglasses or jewelry or a dark lip. My most worn item at the moment has to be the shoes pictured above, my Steven by Steve Madden Sawyer D’Orsay flats in denim; I love the bit of denim for an ever so slight pop of color in my prevailing neutral-toned outfits.
This summer, I interned in LA and reported on some serious Fashionistas/os on the University of California Los Angeles and Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising campuses; I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to meet and interview the very smartly dressed people that I was lucky to come across, and really hope everyone was happy with their spotlights! This fall, however, I’m excited to finally get to represent my own school and photograph students dressed to kill within Florida State University’s creative and charming brick campus. I’ll be incorporating their styles in a WHAT TO WEAR post every Thursday, where I’ll spotlight inspiration for how to dress for every occasion.
